2017 FLASHBACK: (This post is a flashback from my travels 2017 in Georgia).

I woke up this morning very late!! 😀

Yeah, by 9am in the morning I got out to bed not my usual hours when waking up during my travels. I was so tired because of my long walk on the previous day read HERE. When I went out from my room to go to the bathroom to have a bath, I found a book! I passed by the kitchen and in the table, there’s a travel book – a lonely planet “Turkey”. After my bath still the book was there but I ignore it. At 10:30 I had my tea while preparing myself for another city tour alone. I went again to the kitchen to get some hot water, then I was tempted to read the note with the book at the table. It was written as: “For who is interested, Greetings Jade and Joost (from Holland)“. Usually, in my travels I do not use travel books. I just search it before my flight, like reading blogs or watching vlogs and search on the net during the trip. But I like books! I collect books actually and plan to donate some too. So yes, I pick it up! Since no one got it I keep it instead for my future travels to Turkey, hopefully. 🙂 Will definitely pass it forward after my travel there. ♥

MY DAY 5 IN TBILISI, GEORGIA:

• The History of Georgian Jews Museum

It was early noon when I went out from the hostel by myself roaming Tbilisi again, I found ‘The History of Georgian Jews’ museum so I went and check inside. The entrance was 3 Gel.

I also visited Tbilisi History museum for 5 Gel entry fee, just only a few walking distance from the History of Georgian Jews museum.

• Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church

After visiting Tbilisi history museum, I look for the location of Saint Peter and Paul church. First I went to Liberty square station to ride the train going to Marjanishvili metro station which nearby to the church. But before I’ve reached the Saint Peter and Paul, I’ve found first another church which is name as Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church but that time it was closed so I didn’t went inside. (I don’t have a good photo for this church tho).

From Marjanishvili metro station I walked for about 10 minutes to reach Saint Peter and Paul Apostles’ church. I’ve got my maps.me app guiding me there that time. • A family restaurant 

I rode a wrong bus to Vake park! Inside the bus I felt in doubt so I asked some passengers if I rode the right bus to Vake park. Since the people in the bus can’t understand me as well as me to them, I just said Vake park in a questionable tone. They shake their heads means no, so I got down when the bus can stop and ended up in a place I do not know the name. 😀

Because I didn’t know the name of this family restaurant (didn’t saw an English name there) so I put this photo.

Well, because I got lost in the area – I look for a cafe or a restaurant and ended up to a family restaurant. I can’t read the name of this restaurant because it is written in Georgian letters. My purpose is to charge my phone & connect to the internet. ? So of course, I need to order something & yeah I was hungry too. The menus were expensive here than the foods I ate from my previous days. The waiter gave me menus from the late Barbare Eristavi Jorgadze in 1833-1895 (see top photo). This cuisine I didn’t knew the exact Georgian name but it is made of chicken & eggplant with sauce, olive oil & some leaves (chicken on top of the eggplant). It cost about 30 GEL. I like it, it was delicious ? & the people there were great. Thank you guys! Thank you too for helping me find my way to Vake park & introducing taxify for taxi at the right price. ?? So from here I rode a taxi (from taxify app) to reach Vake park and I met my contact person there.

• Vake Park

Here where I met my friends’ friend (Georgian) and have some great conversation with him while we roamed the park. Thank you Levan for the company! Great to met you indeed.

Vake park is located at Tbilisi city and is a public park at Vake District. This was open since 1946 and have the total of 200 hectares territory. At the top of the hill is the World War II Memorial.

• Turtle Lake or Cork Lake

It is called Kus Tba in Georgian is a small lake located in Tbilisi city.

We rode a cable car to reach the turtle lake faster, located at Chavchavadze avenue station near Vake park. It has the capacity to transport about 2,000 people per day. It can carry of about 10-12 passengers. The ride took about approximately 6 minutes and it cost only for 1 GEL one way ticket. While in the cable car it overlooks the Vake park and Vake District.

I’m lucky, because this gondolas stopped its operation in 2009 and in 2016 its ropeway updated and back on operation. It’s original cableway was built in the year of 1965.

• Sameba or the Holy Trinity Cathedral

It was already dark when we reached the Holy Trinity Cathedral from Turtle lake. With Levan we commute going to the cathedral. • Avlabari metro station

After visiting the cathedral Levan dropped me at Avlabari metro station going to Liberty square metro station. From Liberty square I walked for about 10 minutes more or less towards my hostel (Corner hostel) at the old town Tbilisi by myself. To see Avlabari metro station click HERE.
