Gudauri-Kazbegi, Georgia on spring – Solo Travel Day 2
Ever since before I reached Georgia, I was interested in Gudauri–Kazbegi mountains but didn’t had an exact plan when and how to go there. Thanks to my hostel owner, on my first day in Tbilisi he informed me about his trip to those famous mountains. He was a guide to a couple for that day and he drove the car as well. I agreed to go with them and I paid the trip for about GEL 60.00 (Georgian Lari).
Here is my Day 2 video in Gudauri-Kazbegi, Georgia trip:

This trip was a whole day trip from Tbilisi to 1. Ananuri 2. Gudauri 3. Kazbegi and back to Tbilisi. We started our trip from 9:00 in the morning from Tbilisi City for approximately 150 kilometres in a private car. We passed by Msthketa City and Aragvi River. We used the Georgian military road – the historic name for the major route through the Caucasus from Georgia to Russia.
1. ANANURI CASTLE
Ananuri Castle is a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located along the Aragvi River. It was the office of the Duke of Aragvi clan. The castle was the scene of the numerous battles and as the watch tower that gave signal for the monastery during war time. Inside the castle, there is a church named Church of the Mother of GOD.
2. GUDAURI
First we stopped by for few minutes at the waterfall in Gudauri. It is a drinking water – great for passers to fetch water because it is near in the highway.
Gudauri is a Ski Resort located in the south-facing plateau of the Greater Caucasus mountain range in Georgia. It is along the Georgian Military highway situated in the district of Stepantsminda with an elevation of 2,200 metres above sea level. It have the best skiable area most will enjoy where sun’s exposures are great.
We also passed by Gudauri villages – a very quite place that time in my visit. At the Recreational or Ski area there is this monument called Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument.
3. STEPANTSMINDA or KAZBEGI (previous name)
We changed our car when we went to Stepantsminda district. The roads going to Kazbegi mountains were very difficult during springtime – wet roads. You can find this trip in the video above for more visual information.
At the mountain, in Gergeti Trinity Church was freaking cold and windy too! I felt like the wind blew me away!! 😀
Gergeti Trinity Church or Holy Trinity Church is situated in the right bank of Chkheri river in Mount Kazbegi. It has the elevation of 2,170 metres. It was built in 14th century. The place is mostly the stopped point for trekkers. Mount Kazbegi is great for hiking!
LUNCH IN A RESTAURANT
We took our lunch at Georgian-Russian speaking restaurant. The waitress/waiters can’t understand English. Good thing I was with a Russian in the trip and she ordered food in behalf of me. Thank you! I chose and ate Kachapuri with egg that cost about GEL7.00. From here at 16:45 hours we went back to Tbilisi and reached the city in the evening.
